Missouri State Board of Nursing Warns of Scam Targeting Missouri Nurses
Flexible pay and scheduling structures for nursing staff, including incentive pay, career development and training programs, and alternative benefits that do not increase base pay. Specifically, CMS will survey nursing homes in the future for nurse competency, inappropriate use of antipsychotic medications, and other areas of residents’ health and concern. When completing the LSC portion of the survey, LSC surveyors must verify the inspections and maintenance performed on the fire alarm system were completed and signed off by a qualified person from the listed qualifications in NFPA. The facility is required to provide this certification to the surveyors at the time of the survey. Some companies list the inspector qualifications on the inspection and maintenance reports. The Section for Long Term Care Regulation has developed two new forms for all long-term care providers to utilize when reporting Facility Reported Incidents.

About DHSS
Ensure training and access to appropriate supplies and PPE for environmental staff. Consult the CDC guidance on staff who may have been exposed to a COVID-19 positive case. Ensure staff are educated to notify other facilities they are work with that they are working at a facility with COVID-19 case. Trash disposal bins should be positioned near the exit inside of the resident room to make it easy for staff to discard PPE after removal, prior to exiting the room, or before providing care for another resident in the same room. Assist residents with frequent hand hygiene, social distancing, and use cloth face coverings. Execute a cohort plan to ensure that ill residents are separated from those that are not ill.
Swingtech sends informational messages to SNFs that are not meeting APU thresholds on a quarterly basis ahead of each submission deadlines. If you need to add or change the email addresses to which these messages are sent, please email and be sure to include your facility name and CMS Certification Number along with any requested email updates. Once the PSO role request has been submitted AND approved, you will receive notification via email. At this point you will be one of the designated PSOs for your CCN and have the authority to approve/reject subsequent requests for access of various role types to your provider’s CCN.

As a reminder, it is recommended that providers run applicable CASPER reports prior to each quarterly reporting deadline, in order to ensure that all required data has been submitted. Furthermore, CMS has increased its reporting requirements for nursing homes, public posting of facility staffing measures, and enforcement penalties for nursing homes that do not comply with staffing requirements. CMS has historically posted facility staffing metrics on Nursing Home Care , such as the average number of hours worked for nursing staff per resident per day. More recently, CMS uses the public Nursing Home Five Star Quality Rating System to identify facilities with staffing challenges, such as low weekend staffing or excess variation in daily staffing levels. In January 2022, CMS began posting data on the level of weekend resident nurses, total nurse staffing, and staff turnover for all nursing homes on the Care Compare website.

We appreciate your willingness to allow us to come and visit your residents, especially after COVID. We know these past few years have been difficult with the pandemic, but we appreciate you working with us for this important information. Suspend visitor access to the facility except for end of life or other compassionate care circumstances. Ensure proper infection control procedures are followed in these limited visiting situations. Symptomatic residents who decline testing should be placed on Transmission-Based precautions and remain so until they meet the symptom based criteria for discontinuation.
